Easter Residenial Music Course

Developing Creative Music Making Skills

In April 2023 we welcomed 13 young people to a Residential at Hawse End Centre, at the head of the magnificent Borrowdale Valley on the shores of Derwentwater 

For four days they explored creative music-making and composition with Cumbria Music Hub and NYJO, and the great outdoors, led by Cumbria Outdoors.

In Cumbria, young people can encounter barriers to joining together regularly to make music. Making friends and meeting other young musicians is essential for their musical and personal development.

Intensive residential course are not only practical, but a fun, sociable, inspiring and above all CREATIVE answer.

When?

1-4 April 2023

Where?

Hawse End Centre, Portinscale, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 5UE

Who?

Aged 11 - 16, experienced musician or entry level musician who is willing to give creative music making a go!

To take part in this course you must either live or attend school in Cumbria.

How?

  • High quality and inclusive instrumental workshops
  • Learn together, support each other, make new friends
  • Delivered in small groups to work at the pace of the participants
  • Run in partnership by Cumbria Music Hub and National Youth Jazz Orchestras
  • Full fee: £250 

    Don’t let cost be an obstacle - bursaries may be available  on a sliding scale. 

    Please consider paying £300 for your place if you are able, to contribute toward the cost of someone who is unable to pay the full fee.
