Cumbria Folk Academy and Ensemble
Where: The Old Fire Station, Carlisle
When: Tuesdays after school (3.30, 4.10 or 4.50pm)
Run in partnership by Gael Music and Cumbria Music Education Hub, the Folk Academy helps young musicians to research and find their own tunes, develop their musical talents and benefit from free weekly lessons, an instrument bank and group performances throughout the coming school year. Tuition covers clasarch harp, wooden flute, melodeon and fiddle. With funding from Youth Music.
Brampton Community Orchestra
Where: Brampton Community Centre
When: Tuesday evenings 7—9pm
The orchestra is now well into its fourth year and has core of about 30 players ranging in age from 10 to 80 odd. As always, we are never satisfied and welcome players of all orchestral instruments of about grade 5 level and above.

Carlisle Musical Society

The Society is always happy to have new members. Members pay a nominal annual subscription. We produce a spring show and a December concert each year.
Carlisle Cantate Children’s Choir
Where: Carlisle Cathedral Fratry
When: Thursday evenings 6.15-7.30pm
The choir is open to all children aged 7-13 years without auditions. The choir is run by members of the Cathedral’s professional music staff, and sings a programme of mainly secular music in a fun and relaxed atmosphere.
BlueJam Improv Choir
Where: Community Hut, Brampton
When: Wednesday 7-9pm
The idea is to be able to create our own version of the songs we like and also to start from scratch using our ideas to create a piece.
