Children’s Orchestra

A friendly orchestra playing music of all kinds, especially suitable for beginners, with opportunities for more experienced players to take leading parts. The cost is £4 per session. Accompanying adults welcome to come and join in for free – beginners or competent players all welcome!

Geoff Bartholomew and Richard Evans from BlueJam are the music directors and conductors and arrange the music

We also have Daniel Harrison from BlueJam Young Music Leaders setting up the sessions and Eddy Davies helping to lead

Kirkby Stephen Silver Band


Where: Mill Lane, nr Frank’s Bridge, Kirkby Stephen

When: Mondays 7.30- 9pm

We provide an opportunity for youngsters from the age of 9 to begin learning a brass instrument (for the first few months we make no charge and provide an instrument and a weekly lesson). We currently have about 25 members ranging from almost complete beginners to very accomplished musicians.

We are always pleased to welcome new players of any ability and have a modest training band for the younger members. If you don’t have an instrument but want to join us or are keen to learn, we have a selection of instruments available for hire. Membership is free.
