Cumbria Youth Orchestra is a group of young musicians of around grade 5-8 standard. We play a huge variety of orchestral music with a professional conductor. Rehearsals are supported by our team of specialist professional tutors. So if you want to perform in a variety of musical settings, improve your ensemble skills and raise the level of your playing we’d love to hear from you.

This season promises to be another exciting one with the introduction of our new conductor Leon Reimer. Leon is an experienced conductor who is especially keen to develop the skills of our talented young Cumbrian musicians.

‘it’s an exciting time to be part of the Cumbria Youth Orchestra as it has now developed musically to the extent that it is ready to start work on more challenging projects such as performing a full symphony.’

Alice Farnham, Conductor

A really valuable and inspiring experience for all the kids and we thoroughly enjoyed the concert … fabulous to give them the opportunity again to work with a world-class conductor like Alice.

2016/17 Season

This has been a particularly exciting season for us, working towards an exciting showcase concert at The Sands, Carlisle in collaboration with Manchester Camerata, Orchestras Live, BlueJam Jazz and over 400 young singers. We’re looking forward to building on this experience and rising to new challenges!
