From ‘icing on the cake’ to the ‘essential preparation for the sponge recipe’ : How First Thing Music is changing perceptions of the value of music – working with schools, music services, and the power of focused research.
First Thing Music adopts a Kodály approach to music – a fun and interactive way to introduce music to young children. This session presents the results of a pilot study investigating the impact of the Kodály approach to music on the developmental outcomes of 56 Reception children in one school in the Tees Valley.
A practical taster session for First Thing Music daily music sessions – as CPD for non-music specialists, being developed in partnership with the British Kodály Academy, Tees Valley Music Service and Cumbria Music Service.
Supporting non-specialist EY and KS1 teachers with interactive music (and the well-being that comes with it) in the classroom, Covid notwithstanding!
